5. The Knesset

The Knesset is the Jewish State’s House of Representatives. It is Israel’s legislative branch—its parliament, which passes the state’s laws, forms its governments and elects its Prime Minister. There are 120 members of the Knesset. The 120 members of the current Knesset represent 13 political parties ranging from the religious to the secular, the political rightwing to the left, and Israelis from Arab and Jewish and Russian backgrounds.
