Who said this Christmas wouldn’t bring anything good for those of us who will be spending the holiday seeing a terribly overpriced movie and getting Chinese food?

The news that Adam Sandler will be making an appearance on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” will fill you with Yuletide joy…or something.

E! News reports that the “Happy Gilmore” star, who is friends with “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star Andy Samberg, will play himself during the show’s post-Super Bowl episode.

The show, Samberg’s first major role post “Saturday Night Live,” is struggling to find and audience, but creator Mike Schur is hoping that the Super Bowl episode (and its guest star) will help give people a chance to see what it’s all about.

“We’re hoping a lot of people will check out the show for the first time because the entire universe watches the Super Bowl,” said Schur, the man behind “Parks and Recreation” and “The Office.”

“And so we really just wanted to sort of introduce the characters to a wider audience. We tried to just build a couple stories that are really explaining in the funniest way who everyone is.”

The lure of Adam Sandler, who these days consistently makes movies that are terrible but insanely profitable, should help!

J-Connection: Sandler and Samberg are both Jewish.
