Al Qaeda has set up shop in the West Bank, an Islamic group is reporting.

The terror group has gained a “foothold” in the Palestinian territory to the east of Israel, according to the Majiles Shura al-Mujahideen, or Holy Warriors’ Assembly. The organization made the claim recently on an Islamic Internet forum.

“By the will of God Almighty, the global jihadi doctrine has reached the bank of pride, the West Bank, planting its foothold after all attempts to thwart its presence,” the statement read.

“They [Israelis] must learn, that the salafist jihad brings with it people who love death as you love life and power and control, and they seek to die a death of sacrifice in the path of Allah, just as you seek the passions and the salaries and the ranks.”

Messages on the forum also asserted that three suspected terrorists killed last week in the West Bank while planning attacks against Israel and the Palestinian Authority were part of al Qaeda.

A Reuters report Sunday said the Jewish state confirmed the terrorists were linked to al Qaeda. Thousands attended the funerals of the three suspects last week, leading to clashes between Israeli forces and stone-throwing Palestinian youths.

The report also stated al Qaeda currently has backing in Gaza, and claimed the Majiles Shura al-Mujahideen is calling for an end to peace negotiations between Israel and Palestine.

“We call on every sincere person to cut off what is called ‘negotiations’, which causes one’s nose to turn away with its foul stench of collaboration,” the Majiles Shura al-Mujahideen statement said.

“We are serious about fighting the aggression against religion by the blaspheming Jews and the hypocritical collaborators.”
