In a true Hanukkah miracle, Amanda Bynes has been found mentally competent by a judge.

California judge, James Bianco ruled during a court hearing that the troubled actress can now stand trial in the criminal proceedings related to a DUI case.

Bynes has been an absent figure lately. The erratically behaving star was placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold four months ago after initially being detained for a mental health evaluation. The “Hairspray” star was originally held in a psychiatric facility before being moved to an exclusive rehabilitation center to continue working on her issues under specialized treatment, under direction from the specialists at the UCLA psychiatric center.

While all of this was going down, Bynes was involved in a number of legal incidents, including the DUI she will now stand trial for and three misdemeanor charges for allegedly tossing a bong out the window of her high-rise Manhattan apartment window this May. Oy vey.

Now that the California judge has ruled Bynes competent to stand trial, a progress report on her condition has been scheduled for January 7th.

Bynes’ parents have been the only glimpse into their daughter’s situation during the past few months. The actress’ mother, Lynn, was temporarily granted conservatorship over her daughter. Lynn and the actress’ father Rick publicly stated that they are confident their daughter will “pull through” her current “situation.”

“We appreciate everyone’s heartfelt support, and we hope that she can get some privacy and the respect she deserves during this trying time,” Lynn Bynes said in a statement to People magazine in October. “Both my husband and I love Amanda very much and we know she will get through this situation.”
