Reports are circulating that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas have held secret meetings for years.
Israeli paper Ynet reported the news Thursday, saying a Bibi confidant, Yitzhak Molcho, has routinely acted as representative for back channel meetings in London.
The exchanges, attended by an Abbas aide, have included messages and brainstorming, the report alleged.
The news came during a year of peace talks that are publically known as the first push since a freeze in negotiations three years ago.
Following the report, Abbas staunchly denied any such meetings had taken place, with a spokesman saying “there had not been nay secret talks between Abbas and Israeli officials.”
The Prime Minister’s Office declined to comment.
