A controversial edition of “The Diary of Anne Frank” is making waves online this week.

The volume in question was published years ago in South Korea, and features a blond, blue jeaned young woman on the cover as a stand in for the Holocaust diarist. Some objectors have equated the image to a pin up style ad.

The edition is decades old, but an article today by Kotaku—part of Gawker—pointed out that the image has been circulating with increased frequency in recent weeks.

The Kotaku piece indicated the new interest could have been spawned by the recent tweet of a blogger who criticized the cover.

The Holocaust memoir is particularly popular in some Asian nations, though a February outbreak of vandalized editions of the book in Tokyo did make headlines.
