A group of Israeli sailors are being treated for injuries following a fire onboard a patrol ship off Gaza.

Fifteen Navy sailors suffered smoke inhalation and other injuries when sparks flew aboard the Israeli patrol ship. Two soldiers were moderately injured and the rest lightly injured, and have already been transferred to hospitals in the south. They should be released today.

An investigation into the incident has already been opened, with early reports citing a malfunction in one of the ship’s pumps as cause of the fire.

The news comes just days after an Israeli missile ship was overturned off the coast of Ashkelon.
