The Dave Matthews Band paid tribute to slain Israeli-American journalist Steven Sotloff at a Florida performance over the weekend.

Sotloff was beheaded by ISIS last September, a killing that was filmed and distributed in a gruesome act of intimidation, after being held captive for a year. Saturday, Sotloff’s family attended a DMB concert in West Palm Beach, where the group performed the song “Mercy” in the Jewish journalist’s honor.

“My mother likes this song, and tonight I want to play it in the memory of Steven Sotloff, and also to all the members of his family and those that he loved that are here this evening.”

Sotloff, who was 31 when he was killed, was reportedly a Dave Matthews Band fan.
