Israeli directors walked away with top honors at the European Film Awards last weekend.
Two Israeli filmmakers won EFA’s at the Berlin event Saturday. Ari Folman took best animated film for “The Congress,” while Rama Burshtein’s “Fill the Void” won best cinematography.
“The Congress” is a collaboration of 270 animators spanning six countries, and stars Hollywood favorite Robin Wright.
Folman’s other recent effort, “Waltz with Bashir,” was nominated for an Oscar is 2008.
“Fill the Void,” meanwhile, is a highly touted effort by newcomer Burshstein, and tells the story of a Hasidic girl forced into an arranged marriage with her brother-in-law.
