Being right always feels so fantastic, doesn’t it? A few weeks ago the news circulated that several actresses, including Israeli export Gal Gadot, were auditioning for a small role in Zack Snyder’s upcoming “Batman vs. Superman” movie.
But the Internet is too smart, and it was all pretty obvious based on the women auditioning and DC’s agenda to get a Justice League franchise up and running now that “The Avengers” is a thing. The character these women were actually auditioning for had to be Wonder Woman.
And the Internet was right!
Gadot will play Diana Prince AKA Wonder Woman alongside Ben Affleck’s Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman.
Variety first reported the news, which included some words from director Snyder:
“Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”
A few other roles still remain to be cast, if Warner Bros is intending to use “Batman vs. Superman” as a way to introduce all of the Justice League characters. Rumor has it that the Flash is the next hero they’ll be searching for. The film’s villainous role is said to be coveted by “Zero Dark Thirty” and “300: Rise of the Empire” star Callan Mulvey.
If there are any doubts to Gadot’s ability to embody the fierce Amazonian princess, this clip from “Fast and Furious 6” (REALLY, there are at least SIX of them?) may help put them to rest. The girl is a bad ass:
Now that is one ass-kicking Jewish superhero in the making if we’ve ever seen one.
J-Connection: Gal Gadot is an Israeli Jew.
