Just in time for the Olympics, Israel’s Holocaust trust has published an online tribute to Jewish athletes who perished in the Holocaust.
The virtual exhibit by Yad Vashem includes a collection of images found at the Klooga labor camp in Estonia, where some 2,000 Jews were murdered in 1944. Most of those killed came from the Vilna Ghetto, and many of the photographs show scenes of winter sports in Vilna prior to the war.
Yad Vashem was able to put together the online memorial with help from the Central Historic Museum in Estonia. See the entirety of the collection here, or scroll below to view some of these touching photos.
