A worker at a Jewish shop was beaten in New York yesterday in what appears to be a hate crime.
The authorities are already investigating after the 52-year-old victim, a manager at the Judaica store in the Upper West Side, was assaulted by a man who came into the shop shouting anti-Semitic epithets.
The man who was attacked said he saw the suspect walking back and forth outside, prompting him to exit the store and approach the unidentified man. The suspect then reportedly shouted, “F*** you Jews. I’ll kill you. I’m a Muslim.”
The man then punched the victim multiple times and fled the store on a scooter, according to police.
The manager has been treated for non life-threatening injuries; the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the attack as a possible hate crime.
