The Jewish Museum has updated its Hanukkah app, Light My Fire. The app, which debuted in 2012 (to the joy of candle-forbidden college students everywhere), is new and improved with some hilarious features.

Primary among  them is a turkey-backed, flag and statue of liberty-festooned menorah. Say the blessings with the helpful button providing the traditional prayers in English, Hebrew, and transliterated Hebrew, the swipe across the shamas to start lighting. The app descends into game territory, as you drag the fire from candle to candle with your finger to light the whole menorah.

Thanksgivukkah not your thing? This year’s app has 26 lamps from 11 countries, each from the Jewish Museum’s extensive collection. Read a bit about your choice, then place it one of 19 stock backgrounds (from Jerusalem to the moon), or a custom photo you upload.

So whether your looking for a bit fun with your family, or a way to bring your family traditions with you wherever you go, Light My Fire has got you covered. We only wish there was a way to watch the candles slowly flicker out at the end of a long Hanukkah night. Happy Hanukkah from the Jspace Blog!
