The United Nations decided to censor three panels of an Israeli exhibition, claiming they are “inappropriate.”
The panels in question are: Zionism, Jerusalem AND Arab-Israelis.
StandWithUs New York, in collaboration with Israel’s Mission to the UN, worked in recent months to tell Israel’s story thorough a unique exhibition to be shown at the UN Headquarters in New York.
Ambassador Danon, Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, has already called on UN Sec. Gen. Ban Ki-Moon to reverse the decision and to showcase the censored panels, with their title, and the caption: CENSORED BY THE UN.
He said: “By disqualifying an exhibition about Zionism the UN is undermining the very existence of the State of Israel as the homeland of the Jewish people. We will not allow the UN to censor the fact that Jerusalem is Israel’s eternal capital.”
“According to this scandalous decision, Zionism is not worthy of the UN so we are taking appropriate measures. We will make sure that these banned exhibits will be viewed by millions around the world.”“The UN must reverses this outrages decision and apologize to the Jewish people. Zionism and Jerusalem are the foundation-stones and the moral basis upon which the State of Israel was founded.”
Shahar Azani, Executive Director of StandWithUs in New York, added: “The UN has once again exposed its deep bias against the State of Israel. This Display is meant to educate and share Israel’s inspirational story with the world. It has been shown numerous times throughput the country and the world, in synagogues, churches, on campuses and community events. It is a shame that the values of the UN, an institution meant to promote values of dialogue and tolerance, have been distorted, deeming the organization today unrecognizable to its original intents.”
