A mikveh from the 18th century was recently uncovered in Venezuela.

The site was found in an area known as Falcon, during a routine remodeling project at the Art Museum Alberto Henriquez. The Jewish ritual bath is the only ancient version ever uncovered in the region.

The museum in question is located in a home that was bought by a Jewish trader in 1847. One room of the home was converted into a synagogue.

Now, researchers from the School of Anthropology at the Central University of Venezuela are excavating the area with the Venezuelan Ministry of Culture.
