1. Assassination

Rabin was assassinated on November 4, 1995, by an Israeli extremist opposed to the signing of the Oslo Accords. The killing took place at Kings of Israel Square in Tel Aviv, which is now named Rabin Square. The Hebrew date of his murder, the 12th of Heshvan, has been named a memorial day by the Israeli government. In 2005, Rabin was named the greatest Israeli of all time, in a poll by Ynet.
