Upon his arrival to Israel tomorrow, singer Matisyahu will visit the Peres Center for Peace.

The international singer will meet Wednesday at 11 am Israeli time with the ninth President of Israel Shimon Peres at the statesman’s center in Jaffa for peacekeeping initiatives.

The sit down will take place prior to Matisyahu’s performance this Saturday evening in Jerusalem. During his visit he will not only meet with Peres, but also with the youth participants of the Peres Center’s “Young Ambassadors for Peace” program.

In August 2015 during his European tour, Matisyahu made international headlines after he was asked by the organizers of the Rototom Festival in Spain to sign a statement supporting a boycott of Israel.

When he refused to cooperate in using music as a tool to promote boycotts, which he argued prevented peace between peoples, the festival organizers canceled his performance, a move that led to worldwide protests. The festival later published an apology to Matisyahu and invited him to perform as planned, a performance that was an international success.
