Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is on the verge of receiving an invite to the White House.

The news was announced by the Palestinian Authority’s chief negotiator Saeb Erekat on Voice of Palestine radio.

Erekat was giving an interview from Moscow, where he was slated to talk about the current status of peace talks with the Jewish state.

Though no new strides have been made in the talks in recent weeks, Erekat said in the interview that the American side is still presenting various ideas.

There has been no official word from the US about a potential Abbas visit to DC. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, however, is scheduled to meet with President Barack Obama in Washington early next month.
