Shimon Peres toured Kiryat Hayim today, a suburb of Haifa near the Sea of Galilee.
The former Israeli president and prime minister viewed historical material installed in the area, showing images from the kibbutzim culture of the early days of Haifa.
Peres himself spent time in the area as a young man, taking part in the early building of Tel Aviv and Israel at large.
“I remember how we loved the train driver, who would slow the train down near our kibbutz so we could get off,” Peres said. “My heart is expanding to see theses travel sites with Israeli heritage.”
