It’s no secret the music from “Frozen” has become a megahit in its own right, with the single “Let It Go” gaining a particular fan following.
Sung by Jewish legend Idina Menzel in the original score, a new version is causing a viral sensation, with more than 13 million views on YouTube since it was uploaded on Thursday.
The cover is the brainchild of Alex Boye, an LDS musician who has put what he calls an Africanized spin on the Disney tune. The video includes the stunning One Voice Children’s Choir, with lead vocals from pint sized Lexi Walker.
“I went out of town for work and when I got back, my wife Julie told me, ‘You’ve got to hear this,’” writes Boye.
“She puts on the music and my little 4-year-old Adanna struts and shimmies across the living room singing every single word of ‘Let It Go’ with feeling and reckless abandonment!! Along with every other kid in the country, she got ‘Frozenitis’! My mind immediately started racing, and I thought, ‘I HAVE TO Africanize this!'”
The result is soulful and angelic, leaving little wonder as to why it’s causing such a stir. Take a look for yourself below, and let us know what you think!
